When you go car shopping beware. If the salesperson takes your license and makes a copy . Car dealers will use that information to pull your credit . They may try with different lenders.

It has happened that a person trying to shop for a car can have 22 inquiries on their report . These are considered a ding and can lower your score.

Then when you go for a mortgage your score is lower than it might have been otherwise. The result being a higher interest rate or a denial of your application.
